The reason Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi’s two weeks suspension at the club was cancelled has been revealed.
Messi was reportedly suspended for two weeks by Parisians after taking an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia earlier this month.
The 35-year-old flew out to Saudi Arabia without PSG’s permission a day after their 3-1 defeat at home against Lorient in a French Ligue 1 tie on April 30.
The Argentina World Cup winner subsequently missed his team’s 3-1 Ligue 1 win against Troyes on May 7.
However, Messi returned to Camp des Loges earlier this week, with PSG’s Twitter account posting photos of him in training on May 9.
That led many to wonder why Messi’s suspension was overturned, and according to RMC Sport, PSG and the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner agreed to a secret contract behind the scenes that culminated in an apology video on May 5.
Messi posted the video on social media, where he is heard apologizing to his ‘teammates’ for his action.
