Jack Grealish, a star for Manchester City, has responded once more to Liverpool legend Graeme Souness' repeated public criticism of him over the past few weeks.
The England international has drawn criticism from fans and pundits ever since Man City broke the British transfer record to sign Grealish from Aston Villa last summer.
Grealish had received criticism from Souness in September, and Souness had retaliated.
Grealish said, "I often feel I do exactly the same as other players, but people talk about them because it's me," in a statement to L'Equipe. Regarding [Graeme] Souness, I once remarked that he always had something negative to say about me. He answered, "I can't take criticism," as his response.
Footballers of today are portrayed as unable to handle criticism if we allow ourselves to respond to something said about us. The English media should occasionally give me some space and concentrate on someone else so that I can concentrate on my game, sometimes that's all I want to say to them.
“There is always noise around me, generated by articles or things. It’s linked to my style of play and the fact I play in one of the biggest clubs in the world. I also imagine that the fee [Manchester] City paid for me contributes to this attention.”
