The FRSC also said that two persons were severely injured in the accident.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr Samuel Oyedeji, confirmed the incident to NAN in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Oyedeji attributed the accident to speed and brake failure.

He said that the victims were all passengers of the ill-fated truck.

The sector commander said the accident occurred around 19.20 pm on Monday, opposite the Produce, Falele along the Lokoja-Okene road, where the truck crashed into the concrete road divider.

Oyedeji said that when the accident occurred, the FRSC received a distress call and immediately sent a rescue team to the scene.

“Unfortunately, four people were already dead when we got there while two others sustained serious injuries and bruises.
“The two people who sustained fractures were rescued and rushed to the Honey Gold Hospital for medical attention.”

Oyedeji appealed to motorists to avoid excessive speed and always endeavour to check the condition of their vehicles, especially their brakes before embarking on a journey.
