Following the pro-Palestinian protests that have surged across numerous college campuses in the United States, resulting in the arrest of more than 2,000 individuals.

According to a tally by the Associated Press, over 300 demonstrators were apprehended on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, contributing to the escalating total.

The University of California, Los Angeles, saw over 200 students detained as law enforcement cleared a fortified encampment, while Dartmouth College in New Hampshire witnessed the arrest of more than 90 students. Additional arrests occurred at the University of New Hampshire and the University of Buffalo, with police intervening at Oregon's school library, occupied by protesters since Monday.

Addressing the situation, President Joe Biden emphasized the importance of upholding order while respecting the right to peaceful protest. He condemned acts of violence, vandalism, and disruption, underscoring that such actions do not constitute peaceful demonstration.

Despite some instances of clashes, a report by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project highlighted that the vast majority of protests, around 99%, have remained peaceful. While tensions persist, efforts to maintain a balance between freedom of expression and public safety continue to be paramount in navigating these challenging times.
