According to the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), 14 people were injured, some seriously, and one person lost his life as a result of flooding in Damaturu, the state's capital.
Through his verified Facebook page, the agency's Executive Secretary, Mohammed Goje, revealed the information on Friday. He added that the SEMA team had quickly assessed the disaster.
In the communities of Ganyen Kura, Malari Behind WfP Warehouse, 3-bedroom Gujba Road Housing Estate, Pompomari, Nayi-Nawa, Abbari West, and Bulabulin Tsallake, he wrote, "Findings revealed that over 200 households have been affected."
While commiserating with the victims, the humanitarian agency assured them that they would receive first-line support within the available resources.
“While resources are mobilized, communities are enjoined to please adhere to early warnings on relocation, drainage clearing, and all measures that will prevent adverse effects of flooding,” he appealed.
