On Tuesday night in Yola, Adamawa State, a group of army officers, traveling in 12 trucks, launched an invasion on the Police Headquarters, resulting in the tragic killing of Inspector Jacob Daniel.

Expressing his condemnation of the attack, Commissioner of Police (CP) Afolabi Babatola urged fellow officers to exercise caution and remain vigilant against assaults on security personnel. A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje, detailed the CP's strong disapproval of the recent clash between the Police and the Army at Target Junction, Yola North Local Council. This confrontation led to an exchange of gunfire, a brutal attack on the police facility, and the unfortunate demise of Inspector Jacob Daniel.

In response to the incident, the CP promptly ordered an immediate investigation into the matter, emphasizing the importance of restoring peace and justice between the two security agencies. The warning was clear: attacks on security officers on duty would no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Brig-Gen. Gambo Mohammed, provided a different perspective, stating that one of his men had been shot and allegedly hidden by the police, prompting the army's intervention to rescue their comrade.

In the aftermath of the clash, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri called for calm among residents, encouraging them to continue with their daily activities. Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, confirmed that a policeman lost his life, and a soldier sustained injuries during the incident.

Describing the situation as unfortunate, Governor Fintiri appealed for understanding and tolerance among different security agencies. He expressed regret over the clash and assured the public that the government was actively addressing the situation to foster overall peace in the state.
