Abdulsalam Idris, a promising 300-level medical student at the University of Jos (Unijos), tragically lost his life yesterday in the university clinic.
Reports suggest that Abdulsalam sustained severe injuries following an assault allegedly orchestrated by a group led by another student, Fisal Dahiru Ibrahim.
The security unit at Unijos confirmed the devastating news, stating that Abdulsalam's body had been transferred to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for autopsy.
Agama Solomon, the acting Chief Security Officer of Unijos, revealed that the suspect, Fisal Dahiru Ibrahim, confessed to providing Abdulsalam with N30,000 as a bribe to secure exam grades from a technician. However, when the results were released and the suspect failed, he allegedly organized the brutal attack that resulted in Abdulsalam's untimely death. The suspect has since been apprehended and handed over to the police.
This tragic incident occurred shortly after both Abdulsalam and the suspect completed their final examinations in the 300-level.
Abdulsalam's peers are deeply disturbed by his death, expressing outrage over the senseless violence that led to his demise. They believe that Abdulsalam did not deserve such treatment and are calling for justice to be served. The tragic loss of a promising young student has sent shockwaves through the university community, highlighting the need for greater security measures and vigilance to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
