In a shocking turn of events in Unguwar Sadauki, Jere Town, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a woman identified as Hauwa’u has fled after allegedly pouring hot water on her co-wife, Bushra Ibrahim.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2024, within the confines of their matrimonial home, merely three months after Bushra was introduced as the second wife.

Narrating the distressing incident to the Daily Trust, the victim, Bushra, revealed that the altercation began when Hauwa’u insisted on retrieving an item she claimed belonged to her from Bushra's room. The item in question turned out to be a pillow, allegedly left in Bushra's care by their husband.

"I demanded to find out what the item was, and she responded that it’s a pillow which had been kept with me by our husband. I insisted that she should wait for the return of our husband who had travelled to Kano for business," explained Bushra.

Upon consulting their husband over the phone, he confirmed that the pillow belonged to someone else entrusted to him. Despite this clarification, in an unfortunate turn of events, a heated argument ensued between Bushra and Hauwa’u, leading to a physical altercation. Eventually, Hauwa’u left for her room, threatening repercussions.

The following day, after Bushra returned from a wedding, the conflict escalated dramatically. As she was preparing a meal following her husband's request, Hauwa’u allegedly approached from behind and poured scalding hot water on her.

In the aftermath of the incident, Hauwa’u fled the area immediately with their only son, approximately one year old, leaving the husband, Malam Ibrahim Mai Inyas, in search of answers. Despite his efforts, accessing his first wife, the suspect, has proven unsuccessful so far.

This distressing event sheds light on the complexities of relationships within a polygamous setting and raises concerns about the need for conflict resolution and support for victims in such situations. The community is left grappling with the aftermath of this tragic incident, emphasizing the importance of addressing domestic issues to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved parties.
