In Oke Irinja, Owode Yewa, Ogun State, no less than four individuals have reportedly lost their lives, while another narrowly escaped death after unknown persons abducted five men on Saturday.
The victims, identified as Adamu Saliu (21), Aliu Babuga (24), Dairu Salihu (32), and Mohammed Abdulai (35), were allegedly abducted in a bush in the community, as revealed by an exclusive police source.
The lifeless bodies of the victims were discovered with ropes tied around their necks in a bush along Sokoto Road in Ilobi, via Owode Yewa. The tragic incident came to light when an eyewitness, Saliu Amodu, claimed to be the brother of the victims, reported to the Owode Yewa Divisional Police Headquarters.
According to Amodu, the five abductees were with their cattle in the bush when unidentified individuals arrived in a vehicle, claiming that a local chief wanted to meet them. Believing the false information, the victims entered the vehicle, and it drove off with the unknown individuals.
"They were my brothers. They were with their cows in the bush when some men brought a vehicle that Baale wanted to see them in. The five of them immediately followed the men and entered the vehicle. They were taken to Sokoto Road, Ilobi, where the dead bodies of four out of the five that left the bush were found," Amodu recounted to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the tragic incident, stating that an investigation has been initiated to unravel the circumstances surrounding the abduction and subsequent deaths of the four individuals. The community is left in shock and mourning as authorities work to bring justice to the victims and their families.
