Former Nigerian goalkeeper Andrew Aikhoumogbe has informed interim Super Eagles coach Austine Eguavoen of the players who will start against Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup second leg playoff.
On Tuesday, Nigeria will play Ghana at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
On Friday, Eguavoen's side drew 0-0 with the Black Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
However, Aikhoumogbe has asked Eguavoen to start Odion Ighalo and Victor Osimhen in the Super Eagles' second-leg attack line against Ghana.
"I was quite impressed with the players' mentality in the first leg against Ghana's Black Stars in Kumasi. Despite the daunting atmosphere, the players maintained their composure and could have scored with the few opportunities presented to them. With the second leg due to take place in Abuja, I would encourage Eguavoen to pair Osimhen with Ighalo, as Ighalo's experience will be invaluable. It will even relieve Osimhen of some of his responsibilities, allowing him to focus on Ighalo.
"I am optimistic that the Super Eagles will succeed in Nigeria and qualify for Qatar," Aikhoumogbe told Completesport.
