The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of Prof.

Ruth Haruna Wazis, the former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri. She passed away in a heartbreaking accident at her home.


State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal, revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024. According to Lawal, Prof. Wazis was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly. The car knocked her to the ground and crushed her chest.


Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries before medical help could arrive. Her family members transported her remains to the hospital.
